I was on vacation driving out through the deserts of the West when this image caught my attention. I was by a dry lake bed, and I felt moved to take a picture of this place, although it doesn’t do it justice.
There’s something about certain types of desert that feels opening to me. It’s like the emptiness of the space calls out the true emptiness inside, and the little me dissolves further into its natural open spaciousness.
