Most of our feelings, perceptions of life, and sensations rise out of our subconscious. Maybe all of them.
For the sake of this class, the subconscious is a space we don’t actively control, but which actively interprets and influences our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It often supplies thoughts, emotions, and behaviors on its own.
Our subconscious allows us to quickly interpret basic things like how to identify what is food or how to do any basic function. Where it is problematic is when it projects and creates experiences without allowing us to really understand what is going on.
For example, you see a woman or man, and your subconscious immediately tell you that you’re in love.
You know, the love at first sight thing.
You haven’t had any interaction with the individual, but you’re lost in a rush of endorphins and hormones that your subconscious is flooding your body with. And that makes the experience feel so REAL.
So she/he must be in love with you too, right?
We get in trouble all the time when the subconscious runs the show, and the subconscious piece of the ego is the far bigger part. It is also invisible to most people unless they actually go looking for it.
How do we break free of this?
How do we learn to identify the subconscious associations we’re making that skew how we see life and influence how we feel?
How do we learn to see what Is and not get lost in what we think, feel, or sense something to be?
I’ll talk about that in this next class. Sign up on the newsletter if you want to hear when I’m enrolling for it.

Working with your Subconscious Class Description
Most people think about the ego as the active thinking mind. The active thinking mind of the ego is a small piece. There’s also the quiet “believing” mind in our subconscious. The “believing” mind already has a vast number of beliefs and assumptions about life. It helps to make countless interpretations of any and everything you see and sense.
Those background beliefs trigger all sorts of emotions and sensations. Furthermore, we get so practiced in creating the same types of emotions and sensations that they take on a life of their own, re-creating themselves even when no particular thought or belief triggers them.
We then are so immersed in this sea of seemingly automatic thoughts, emotions, and sensations that we can barely see any part of life. And this is just the ego’s part in the subconscious world because the subconscious includes automatic primal responses as well like reacting to a loud sound or sudden movement. I’m not going to get into that for this class–the primal basic unconscious space is a whole other level of inner work some of which we can change and other parts we probably can’t.
However, just on the level of subconscious ego, this story gets worse.
Yes. Worse.
For some people, they label their subconscious/spontaneous thoughts as messages from angels, Divine guidance, communications from spirits, wisdom from the True Self, and other things. Emotions and sensations may get called intuitions, gut feelings, and other related terms. People give these things an untouchable status. They sanctify all these feelings and thoughts as inherently CORRECT. Now that they are correct or an expression of WHO YOU ARE, the ego won’t allow any serious inquiry into them because it feels threatened by inquiry.
However, you have to understand something about the truth: The Truth can handle the light of your inquiry.
If something is afraid to be investigated or brought to the light, that’s a sign that it is not true. I can tell everyone that gravity exists, and you can all doubt me. But then you can do your own experiments to verify it. The truth is like gravity–it can take a good long look without believing anything about it.
Can your intuition?
Can your angel guidance?
Can your feeling of instantaneous love with another person or a “bad feeling” about that guy?
Is there any truth in them or are they just forgotten parts of your subconscious speaking to you about past experiences that you don’t remember?
