What does it mean to be a spiritual warrior?
Are you crusading into other countries to convert people to your beliefs?
Are you fighting dark entities on the astral planes?
Do you have a light-saber?
The truth is that the true spiritual warrior is focused on the internal landscape. “Conquering” that space is achieved through surrender, not some form of violence.
In these days of heightened tensions and superhero movie nonsense, I feel like it is really important for me to discuss what becoming a spiritual warrior really means and why you–yes you!–are needed as a warrior to go within.
You need to be the warrior only you can be who gets tested by internal struggles and finds out the power of surrender; surrender leads to a whole other kind of victory.
You need to do this because only can! Only you can go within yourself to unite all of you and dissolve the false sense of separation and ego conflicts.
From that inner unity, how you engage with life and the sense of what warriorship in the external world looks like are vastly different than probably anything you’ve ever seen. But you can only know what that is by going through the transformative fires of going within to surrender to all of you.

Becoming a Spiritual Warrior Class Description
How many times have we seen some quasi-spiritual protagonist presented in the media chopping down bad guys (usually guys) and being told that this is heroic?
How much do you yearn to feel heroic/special/better in a world which may make you feel small, insignificant, and worthless?
How much do you want a magical solution to beating your problems, removing your addictions, or conquering your fears?
The allure of the idea of the spiritual warrior is powerful, but the ways we want it to be blind us to the reality of how it is.
Spiritual warriorship is surrender.
Spiritual warriorship is going through the ego grind.
Spiritual warriorship is the humbling of the ego as you see all of yourself–beautiful, strange, ugly, and horrific.
Through that process, the spiritual warrior develops a very different type of confidence, resilience, and courage that can only be achieved by facing one’s internal demons/issues/challenges. One of the reasons for the arising of these traits is that the spiritual warrior is dissolving separation. They become at one with themselves. That leads to a sense of clarity in what they say and do, where most people feel deeply conflicted or almost fanatically have to believe in something to maintain a sense of rightness about an issue.
Invariably, we take that sense of internal warriorship into the world, but that is so very, very rarely about using violence. And it almost is never what the ego thinks is heroic. Instead, spiritual warriors offer themselves in service to different situations. They don’t make others be like them. They role-model instead. They can work on issues big or small without attachment to the outcomes nor any expectation of being noticed by anyone or approved of. In fact, they could be scorned, and it does not matter.
Truly, becoming a spiritual warrior is a powerful thing. The spiritual path can forge powerful people, but you will have to sit in the fires of your fears, hates, envies, shames, pride, and everything else inside of you. This is where your warriorship is most needed first before you ever consider doing something externally.
