Lazarus and His Grave

The Teacher’s voice came as a great boom

That woke Lazarus from his tomb.

But the light

was too bright.

And more than he could crave.

So Lazarus went back to his grave.

Interpretation

Those who know Christianity are familiar with the story of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus.

More broadly, this metaphor of resurrection/rebirth is a discussion of how people spiritually awaken and then choose to return to unconsciousness.

No matter how powerful the awakening, people have to choose to stay awake.

Will you choose to stay awake?
