One of the fundamental missteps of the spiritual path is the unwillingness to embrace new experiences.
Again and again, I’ve watched people back away from anything truly new or different. That includes new experiences and expressions of love.
Instead, familiar misery is chosen.
With it, people choose to do the spiritual practices that fit within that familiar ego circle.
Flailing in Familiar Ego Misery
Someone living in their head will journal for hours.
The person lost in their emotions will roll around in endless swells of feeling and believe they’re processing.
Those who prefer sensory experiences will find the biggest somatic experiences to be had to prove to themselves that they’re progressing.
But avoidance is avoidance. Time is lost.
Avoiding Parts of Your Spiritual Work
And how much time do you truly have?
Is it Time to Hit the Spiritual Reset Button?
The Direct Path to Freedom
This spiritual freedom path is very easy and so direct. In so many sessions, I’ve mentioned or the student has mentioned what needs to be done.
Then fear comes.
That edge of vulnerability is felt.
This is where you go.
But ego avoidance wins out 9 times out of 10. Always, there’s a hope that a familiar path will lead to a different/better outcome.
But the ego is a slave to certainty.
You will only find familiar suffering there.
If you do go where the vulnerable edge is, the spiritual path and life open up to you even while the ego part of you is terrified and convinced that the world will collapse.
